Brev från Istvan Saros till Alice Saros, 3 december 1946. Transkribering (med noteringar) beställd av givaren, vilken inkom i samband med förvärv: Kedves Licim! Utolsó levelem 8 nappal ezelőtt adtam fel, azóta sok esemény zajlott le most ismét zavarlak soraimmal. November 26.-án kimentem Erzsébetre (Pesterzsébet) detektív segítségével, házkutatási engedéllyel. Az úton már ismertettem a detektívet az egész helyzetről és felhívtam a figyelmét, hogy nehéz társasággal állunk szemben. Amiben nem is tévedtem. A lakásba behatolva az öregasszony fogadott igen zavartan. Én mint detektív szerepeltem, ami az első pillanatban vigasztalás volt részére. Hogy nem támadt fel a halottaknak vélt emberekből senki. Felhívtam a figyelmét, hogy a Mayer család átadott holmijából ha van valami azonnal adja ki. Az öregasszony igen megszeppent, jajgatva mondta, hogy ami volt azt mindent visszaadott a Licikének. Az orra alá pakoltam a házkutatási engedélyt, hogy ha nem adja ki a holmikat még a padlót is felszedem. Siránkozva mondat, hogy nincs kulcs a másik lakáshoz, majd kiment az udvarra és minden további nélkül bement a lánya lakásába, ahonnét rövid idő után a fekete rongyba becsavart csomaggal a kert túlsó sarka felé haladt. A detektív irkafirkált valami a konyhaasztalon, amikor hívtam, hogy nézze, hogy az öregasszony mit csinál a csomaggal, amit a kert vége felé ijedten visz. Az öregek lakásánál kezdtük el mindjárt az egyik szekrénybe be volt akasztva egy nyakkendőm. A fehérneműs szekrénybe egész tüzetesen átvizsgálva ráakadtam egy kispárna huzatra amiben a Te monogramod volt benn. Majd egy nagy párna huzatra amiben a te monogramod volt benn, de kifejtették azért jó kivehető. Feltűnően sok új holmi van az öregek birtokában főleg ágynemű lepedő stb. amibe nincs monogram. Két piros paplanjuk asztalterítő aminek mintája nagyon gyanús. Amikor már mindent kiszórtam a szekrényből át akartunk menni a lánya lakásába, amikor őnagysága személyesen betoppant. Még a konyhában sikerült elcsípni amikor figyelmeztettük, adja ki a holmikat nem kutatunk akkor Nála. Természetesen ő se volt hajlandó átadni a dolgokat , csak azt hajtogatta átadom hogy amit felismerünk azt átadja. Nála megtaláltam 2 ingemet és nyakkendőmet. A harmadik lakásban sajnos nem ismertem fel semmit. De a két utóbbi lakásba is sok holmi van ami nem a tulajdonukat képezi. Feltevésem szerint zsidó holmik. Ismét hiányoztál…Te egész biztos felismerted volna a dolgainkat. Utána egyenként kihallgattam őket. Órákig nyaggatuk őket apró leszólásokból elköptek sok érdekes dolgot. Pl- az én holmimat bevarrták egy gyerek kocsi szalmazsákjába amit egy másik helyen tartottak az idő alatt amikor Te este kijártál. Itt még 3 csomag volt, aminek a tartalma ágynemű fehérnemű , abrosz szalvéta (rózsaszín) monogrammal. Állandóan azt hajtogatták, hogy neked mindig mondták ha megkerül a holmi azt visszaadják. Te augusztusban még fenntartottad a nexust velük. Az elrejtett helyen bevallották, hogy júliusban adták vissza a dolgokat nekik. Különben téged csak a ház átírás érdekelt a holmi másodrangú volt a lányuk szerint. Ezt természetesen nem hiszem. Este megérkezett az öreg Kovács elkezdtük gyurni elmondta hogy összesen 2 (7 ?) kgr-os csomagot vitt be a Corvinba amibe saját és összes ruhái és a szüleid dolgaiból volt. Majd elmondta, hogy a kertben el volt ásva egy 1x1 m-es láda amiben szintén volt Mayeréktól ruha fehérnemű, amit később ástak ki amikor már rendes viszonyok voltak. Tehát nem tudtak elszámolni a dolgokkal. Reggeltől késő estig tartott az eddig felsorolt nyomozás. Másnap beidéztük a rendőrségre a lányát reggeltől délig faggattuk nem köpött semmit se. Nagyon rafinált. Le akarta tartóztatni a detektív de én jobbnak láttam szabadon hagyni , így mód van rá, hogy kiegyezzünk. Másnap felkeresett az öcsük, és egész másképp beszélt. Hajlandó teljes mértékben kártalanítani minket , de ragaszkodik ahhoz, hogy Te írd meg mit adtál át nekik. És az ügyet lokalizálná nehogy meghurcolják a szüleit. Elmentük az ügyvég S. Laci unokabátyámhoz ahol nap nap után tárgyalunk. A mi kívánságunk egyenlőre az én holmim rendezése , mivel hogy nem ismeretes , hogy milyen az az érték ami drága szüleid és a te kelengyéd jelent. Egyenlőre 4000 Ft-ot kértünk. A további összeg ami természetes téged illet a házukat bekebelezzük. Van egy telkük királyerdőben (Csepel) de sajnos ingatlant itt most nem lehet értékesíteni. Most az ügy úgy áll, hogy egy két napon belül adnak készpénzben 2000 Ft-ot a másik felét részletfizetésbe állapodtunk meg. Részemről helyesnek tartom ha mód van a kiegyezésre, mert a per nagyon sokáig tart. De az ügyet semmiképp nem hagyom ellaposodni, amit lehet az be fogom hajtani rajtuk. Ismétlem a rád eső részt azonnal folyósítom részedre. Az öcsük a következő listát hozta el amire a szülei emlékeznek. Amit szüleid illetve Te adtál át nekik. 3 férfi öltöny, 1 db kocka nadrág, 2 db női nerc bunda, 1 db szőnyeg, 2 db futorál , 1 db csipke ágyterítő betéttel, 1 db asztalterítő , 2 db függöny , 6 db tollpárna huzattal, 1 db kisdunyha huzattal, 1db diszpárna 4 db. Paplanhuzat , 4 db lepedő, 6 db vánkoshuzat, 5 viselt férfiing , alsónadrág stb. Kb. ezek a holmik volta nekem. 4 db öltöny nadrág, 3 db kalap, 15 db első rendű ing, 15 db hálóing, 15 db alsónadrág, 5 pár cipő 1 db pizsama, 6 db törülköző , 15 db nyakkendő, 15 pár zokni. Én csak ezekre emlékezem, de biztos volt más dolgok is amit átadtál nekik és az én tulajdonom volt. Az én dolgaimat külön tüntesd fel természetesen mindent írjál meg az edényeket is. A vallomás szerint mielőtt anyukádékat elhurcolták, egy héttel előbb mindent átpakoltak hozzájuk. Amikor eltávoztak csupán a csupasz bútor maradt a lakásban. Rá egy hétre egy 26 éves szerű nyilas aki állítólag még ott lakik szállította el a bútort, egy tanitó segítségével. Ha óhajtod ezt is ki fogom nyomozni. Eredményt hozó dolgokat ha tudsz közöld velem. Írd meg milyen összeg a te károd, természetesen számíts le valamit , hogy elveszett és szerintük az oroszok 6 vánkost. vittek el. de nem kell kímélned őket , mert visszaéltek a helyzettel. For example, my belongings were sewn into a straw sack of a baby pram kept at another place during the time you regularly went out in the evening. The next day, their brother came over and spoke quite differently. He expressed his willingness to fully indemnify us but insisted that you should write down what you had given them. And he would end the case in order to spare his parents from ill-treatment that they may be subjected to in official proceedings. We went to my cousin S. Laci, attorney-at-law, where we negotiated day after day. Now it is our intention to settle my belongings because it is not known what value your dear parents’ belongings and your trousseau represent. For the time being we asked for 4000 HUF. Any further amount will naturally be yours we will take their house. They have a plot in Királyerdő (Csepel) but unfortunately the property cannot be sold here right now. I only remember them, but there must have been other things in my ownership that you gave them. Please make a separate list of my belongings of course, include everything, the dishes as well. According to the testimony, a week before your mother’s family was forced to leave, everything was carried over to them. When they left, only the bare furniture remained in the apartment.
